Gig Driver Tools: What to Compare
Start with the records you need, then choose a tool that makes them easier to maintain. Paying for software is optional. No paid product recommendations or affiliate links are active on this page.
Mileage trackers
Look for a dated trip log, a way to label business purpose, manual corrections, reliable exports and clear treatment of personal trips. Check battery usage and whether automatic tracking requires continuous location access. A tracked mile is not automatically a deductible mile.
Expense and receipt tools
Compare recurring fees, receipt export formats, category editing, data retention and cancellation access. Keep economic wear estimates separate from actual receipts and tax depreciation. A spreadsheet may be enough for a simple business.
Tax preparation
Check support for your filing status, self-employment income, state returns and the deductions or credits you need. Compare the full filing price, including state forms and support, rather than only an advertised starting price. These calculators cannot replace a complete return.
Before following a recommendation
- Confirm the offer applies to your location and work type.
- Check introductory versus renewal pricing and cancellation terms.
- Export sample records before committing to a paid subscription.
- Read the recommendation's disclosure and the provider's privacy notice.
